“Irish Heirloom”

Design for patchwork and appliqué quilt

The reproduction print fabrics from the Regency Ballycastle collection (designed by Christopher Wilson-Tate for Moda Fabrics) featured some lovely border stripes, so the obvious design choice to showcase the collection’s full potential was a medallion with multiple borders. And with the fabric collection being inspired by a gorgeous Irish quilt, the traditional Irish Chain block was the perfect choice for the central pattern. Some of Christopher’s antique quilts inspired the addition of traditional appliqué motifs on top of the piecing.
