“Creative Practice 2014”
Creative practice journal
As taught by Lisa Sonora, creative practice is an approach to art-making that puts your creative process before technique or outcome. Emphatically not about making ‘good art’, it’s a way of using creativity for well being, and to support personal and spiritual growth. It’s a daily practice of visual journaling that uses simple techniques of collage, painting, stamping, drawing and writing to deal with procrastination, self-criticism, and judgment.
My creative practice journals are therefore very personal and very much about creative play rather than specific outcomes. I use them to enjoy colour, store images I love and art that inspires me, record reminders to myself, and process thoughts and feelings.
