Finally and at long last I have some reasonable photos of my most recent major work to share with you… photos of We Must Not Look at Goblin Men have just been uploaded to my portfolio.
It’s been quite difficult to get good pictures of this one. Firstly because it’s big; not quite Douglas-Adams-Hitchhikers-Guide-”space-is-big” big, but still just under six feet wide by two feet high. Unfortunately we have a teeny little house and there’s really only one wall big enough to hang it on. And that wall, having been recently been painted, is not available for experimenting with hammers and picture hooks just now.
It’s also been difficult because as soon as I finished it (the first time – yes!) it went straight off the next day to its first exhibition. Where the lighting wasn’t great for photos. When it came back I decided that actually it wasn’t finished at all and needed some quite significant hand stitch adding to create depth. So it spent the next couple of months as a work in progress again. And as soon as I finished it (the second time!) it went straight off – the next day – to its second exhibition, the Festival of Quilts. Where it was hung low down in a poorly lit corner, and also did not look good for photos.
Right now it’s hanging in Miki’s beautiful kitchen as part of our Open Studio exhibition, where quite frankly, it looks better than it did in either of its official outings. And so at last the chance to take some photos not just of the whole piece, but lots of detail shots as well so you can see the painting and stitch.
Without further ado then, I am pleased to bring you more pictures of We Must Not Look at Goblin Men.

Fi,
I’ve loved this piece since I saw the first snapshot, but its even more amazing when you can see all the detail. Thanks for adding all the photos and sharing them with us.
